Junior Star Singer & Songwriter comes to Leicester!

Welcome to the very first of our Junior Star Singer Blog for Leicester, which will give an insight into the first radio show of our 2016 tour across the UK's radio stations.

Our first radio tour show will be with Take Over Radio in Leicester on Saturday April 16th with contestants Hannah Fowler, Devi Jethwa, Isobel Hardy and Kaysey-Wray Wooderson.  These young contestants average age is between 11-12 years and they are talented singers and songwriters who will be competing for the one prize……   The chance to win a session to sing and songwrite one track with a top record producer in London!

This is a fantastic opportunity and the girls will have to compete against other contestants across the UK this year as the tour continues…….so good luck girls!!!   Can’t wait to hear you sing!

Take Over Radio signed up to the tour earlier this year and Graham from the radio station really loved the idea because it gives young people the chance to have a platform for their own talents as vocalists as well as songwriters.  Take Over Radio in particular is a radio station that is aimed at young people so they are particular eager to get the listeners to stay tuned to Junior Star Singer on Take Over Radio on April 16th at 11 'o' clock.

All listeners will have a chance to text donate to the national charity Youth Music, which the tour is aimed at, so please text “TOUR11 £5” to 70070 to donate to Youth Music and make a difference today. You will be able to donate to Youth Music throughout the tour which completes this year in October.

Youth Music is a national charity investing in music-making projects for children and young people facing challenging circumstances. These challenges include disability, poverty, mental health issues, refugee status or being brought up in care. Projects take place where they're needed most, often in areas of great deprivation. As well as helping young people develop musically, Youth Music projects also improve their personal and social skills, boosting educational and career prospects.

Youth Music believes everyone should have the chance to make music, and invests directly in over 350 projects across the country every year, giving around 75,000 disadvantaged children and young people the opportunity to make music regularly in their local community. The projects support practical, creative music-making of every possible style and technique, with activities including songwriting, music production and performance. Many participants go on to mentor other children, or to train as music leaders themselves. Laura Mvula and Rizzle Kicks attended Youth Music projects prior to their rise to fame.

Our first show will be presented by music entrepreneur and vocal mentor Amanda Neale, founder of Junior Star Singer, regular host for Brooklands radio and panelist for BBC radio.  She will be joined by Rachael Hughes who also presents and is a new and up and coming artist on Amanda's JSS management label. Find out more at www.rachaelsummersjss.com.  Rachael will be on the radio tour singing tracks to launch her new EP and signing cards for all the new contestants.

We look forward to hearing your choices, so tweet us and keep up to date with all the latest news for our Leicester show on www.juniorstarsingerleicester@blogspot.com.  The tour will have national coverage on TV and radio, so look out for all the updates!!!

Love to you all
